Transport and public transit has to be one of Hong Kong's highlights. It has a public transit system like I had never seen before (certainly something that doesn't exist in Canada).
The MTR (subway system) is super easy to use and is very inexpensive for student travellers. Remember to pick up a "Student Octopus Card" in your first week in Hong Kong and prepare to be amazed. Trains are always on time (trains come every 2 to 6 minutes) and are super clean and safe.
If you go out to the city at night, but sure to check the MTR website before you go as the last trains normally run at 12:00-12:30. After that, you have to Taxi back to City University (from Central, it costs around 120-140 HKD per vehicle - find friends to split the cost).
Some taxi drivers don't speak english, so here is the address:
English: 22 Cornwall Street, Student Residence of City University of Hong Kong (intersection of
Cornwall Street and Tat Chee Avenue)
Chinese: 九龍塘歌和老街 22 號香港城市大學學生宿舍(歌和老街和達之路交界)
